Hugs, nudges and winks

I can get very loud in my own head, which makes it very difficult to listen to God when I am like this. Work deadlines, or anger, or busy schedules, or even just a lack of downtime can turn my brain into a boisterous crowd.
At times like these, I try to think of situations when I clearly heard God or knew that I was walking in His will. But memories can be so slippery--like a whisper in that crowd.
So I am going to start using my blog to capture daily (oh alright, probably weekly) instances of His love in my life so I can call upon them when I need them.
If anyone feels the urge to share theirs in the comments section, I love hearing other people's stories and experiences.
This weekend our church has a Faith Stories mini-retreat. Listening to others speak in such beautiful honesty about their spiritual lives and influences reignited how much I crave this type of community and connection with others. It was quite powerful to see people unembarrassed and unafraid to show their hearts and beliefs. I can't say that I am usually that fearless and forthright. But it stirred something in me letting me know that evening was absolutely an example of God's spirit leading me forward and giving me living examples of the good life. It felt like a hug.
On Sunday, Scripture Union had left books for anyone who wanted a daily bible reading. It is significant because I have been receiving messages about reading the bible with my family for a while now. I have tried once or twice, but I keep getting in my own way. But, as I have learned with very important messages, Holy Spirit does not like to be ignored and He will get louder as time goes by. I promise I am listening this time to your nudge. A reading from Acts tonight--with my husband (!!!)--about miracles.
(And what do you know, such quietness in my head. Ahhh, thank you, Lord.)
One final note, a career blog I came across right before typing this one--all about listening to God.
That sign felt more like a wink. :0)

But, used this cool website to try to get rid of all my stuff.
